What happens during the surgery?

The procedure usually takes about 3 to 5 hours to complete and is performed under general anaesthesia. During the procedure the plastic surgeon will make an incision in the lower abdomen, raise the skin flap & separate it from the underlying tissues, suture the abdominal muscles to strengthen the wall, cut away the excess skin and fat and close the wound, you may have tubes in your abdomen to drain the excess fluid, which are removed post-surgery on day 3 or 4.

The surgeon will cut your abdomen from hip bone to hip bone and then contour the skin, tissue and muscle as needed. It might involve moving the belly button up .

Partial/ mini abdominoplasty

It is often done for people with localised fat and skin laxity below the navel.

The procedure make take only up to 2 hours based on the case, and most likely not need belly button repositioning.

What to expect after surgery?

Post surgery you will be having dressings and drain tubes which are removed on day 3 or 4. A compression garment is advised by your surgeon which you must use for 6 weeks. you will be allowed to mobilize on day 2 and resume daily routine in a weeks’ time.
